This is what we are building

The Blue line in northwest Stockholm is extended from Akalla to Barkarby, four kilometers with two stations, Barkarby and Barkarbystaden. The Barkarby metro station is being built at Barkarby commuter train station’s northern part of the platform, at the Veddesta bridge.

Barkarby will be an important hub for all public transport passengers, with metro, commuter trains, regional trains and buses in direct connection.

Järfälla municipality will build 14,000 homes and create thousands of jobs by 2035. A completely new district is growing at the former airport, around the new station in Barkarbystaden. On the other side of the E18 at Barkarby commuter train station, the old Veddesta center and Veddesta industrial area are being transformed into an urban environment.

The expansion of the metro between Akalla and Barkarby is taking place underground and makes it possible to extend the metro further in the future. Traffic starts in 2027.

The Blue line will be extended from Akalla to Barkarby – an important hub for future public transport passengers. A completely new district is emerging around the new station in Barkarbystaden.
